The Rosebull Guarantee
This page says exactly what I guarantee and what I do not. I would rather tell you the limits up front than write something that sounds impressive and quietly fails you later. This is a plain-English summary; the contract you sign at pickup is the binding document.
What I guarantee: the genetic diseases
I guarantee your puppy against the three inherited diseases this breed carries and that a DNA test can actually settle:
- NCL (Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis)
- Ichthyosis (ICH)
- HUU (Hyperuricosuria)
If your puppy is ever diagnosed with any of these by a licensed veterinarian, with documentation, I refund the full purchase price and you keep your dog. I am not going to take a dog away from a family that loves it because of a mistake in my breeding program. That is my problem to pay for, not yours to grieve over.
These three are testable, which is why I can guarantee them. Every dog's results, and every gap where a dog has not been tested, are published on its own page.
Your vet check: 2 business days
Have your puppy examined by your own veterinarian within 2 business days of taking them home. Not mine, yours. If your vet finds your puppy is not healthy, you can return them for a full refund of the purchase price.
Transport costs are the buyer's responsibility, including a return. Please book the appointment before your puppy comes home so the window is not missed.
What I cannot guarantee, and why
Hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia and ACL tears are not simple genetic diseases. They are multifactorial. Genetics load the gun, but what pulls the trigger is largely how a puppy is fed and exercised in its first eighteen months. A puppy from the soundest hips I can produce can still develop bad joints if it is overfed, allowed to get heavy, or exercised the wrong way while it is growing.
This is not me dodging. It is what the evidence says. Dr Siobhan Menzies, writing in the Veterinary Ireland Journal, sets out the research plainly: lean dogs have a five-fold lower risk of hip dysplasia, overfeeding puppies raises that risk, and obesity quadruples the risk of a cranial cruciate ligament rupture, the ACL tear. Meanwhile off-leash play on varied soft ground in the first three months actually lowers hip dysplasia risk.
So no honest breeder can guarantee a joint they do not feed or exercise. What I can do is show you my hip scores, breed away from problems, and make sure you know exactly how to raise this puppy. Read Dr Menzies' article yourself, then read my puppy manual. The first eighteen months are mostly in your hands, and I will help you get them right.
How I reduce the risk before you ever meet your puppy
- Hips are scored with PennHIP, which measures joint laxity and can be done from 16 weeks.
- NCL, Ichthyosis and HUU come from the Embark panel.
- I never breed two carriers of the same recessive disease together, so an affected puppy cannot be produced. Orla is an Ichthyosis carrier and every sire she is bred to is clear, which means her puppies can be clear or carriers, never affected.
- I publish what each dog has had done and where it has not been tested. No dog is described as tested when it was not.
Written contract
Every puppy goes home with a written contract, provided before deposit and signed at pickup. It spells out the specifics in plain language. If a clause is unclear, ask before you pay.
The lifetime take-back
If anything in life changes and you cannot keep your Rosebull dog, illness, divorce, financial hardship, anything at all, I take the dog back. No drama, no judgment, no questions. Better home with me than rehomed to a stranger or surrendered to a shelter. This applies for the lifetime of the dog.
