Rosebull, In Our Own Words
How Rosebull Answers the 12 Questions
You just read the twelve questions every buyer should ask any American Bulldog breeder. A good breeder welcomes every one of them, so here are our straight answers. Save this page and hold us to it.
1. What health tests have been done on the parents, and can I see the certificates?
Breeding parents are tested with PennHIP for hips and the Embark DNA panel covering NCL, Ichthyosis, and HUU, with OFA elbow testing going forward; where a dog is clear by parentage or not yet scored, its page says so. The results live on each dog's profile, which our site pulls from the public archive at pedigreedatabase.ca, and they are independently verifiable on OFA (app.embarkvet.com) and Embark. Ask and I will send the full certificates directly. If any are not posted yet, I will dig them out and get them to you before you place a deposit.
2. Are the dogs registered, and can I see the pedigrees?
Yes. Our dogs are registered with ABRA, the American Bulldog Registry and Archives. I have been ABRA's registrar since 2005, so every registration paper comes through my hand. Full pedigrees are on each dog's profile, which our site pulls from the public archive at pedigreedatabase.ca, traceable across generations. You can browse other breeders' dogs in that same archive too, so you are never taking my word for it.
3. Can I meet the mother, and is the father available?
Yes. Pickup is a scheduled visit at our home in Harvey, New Brunswick, where you meet the mother and the litter. Before any deposit we also do a live video call so you can meet the dogs. If the father is owned elsewhere, I share his health records and his owner's contact.
4. Where are the puppies raised, and how are they socialized?
Our puppies are raised inside our home, not in a kennel building, surrounded by everyday household life from birth: people coming and going, normal sounds, and varied surfaces. That early exposure is what produces a confident, settled adult.
5. What is your health guarantee?
My guarantee starts before a litter ever exists. Every parent is tested or clear by parentage for the listed genetic conditions, and I never breed two carriers, so the known hereditary diseases in this breed cannot be passed to your puppy. Prevention is the real guarantee, not a promise to fix a problem after the fact. Every puppy also goes home with a written contract, and the take-back promise below never expires.
6. What is your return policy if I can no longer keep the dog?
If anything in life changes and you cannot keep your Rosebull dog, for any reason, I take the dog back for its lifetime. No drama, no judgment, no questions. Better home with me than rehomed to a stranger or surrendered to a shelter.
7. Can I see the veterinary records?
Your puppy goes home with its vaccination and deworming records, and I ask you to do an independent vet check within two business days of pickup. The parents' health records are published and verifiable on OFA and Embark, as covered in question one. Our own veterinarian is Dr. Lance McLean at Hometown Veterinary Hospital in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The clinic can confirm the care our dogs receive, but cannot discuss us until a formal written request is on file, which protects everyone's privacy. Ask me and I will put that authorization in place so you can speak with them.
8. Do you have references from past buyers?
My records are public: two decades of ABRA administration and pedigrees that anyone can verify. If you would like to speak with a past Rosebull family, ask and I will connect you, with their permission.
9. Do you screen applicants?
Yes. I review every application personally and reply to qualified inquiries within five business days. A live video call is required before any deposit, and it screens out scam buyers, who never agree to video. I turn people away when a home is not the right fit for the dog.
10. Why was this particular breeding made?
Every pairing is made for a reason: to improve structure, temperament, working ability, or health, never for color alone. With our years in the breed and my view into a thousand ABRA pedigrees as registrar, I pair dogs whose lines genuinely complement each other. Ask me about a specific litter and I will tell you exactly why those two dogs were chosen.
11. What support do you offer after the puppy goes home?
I am reachable for the life of your dog, by phone or email, for the big questions and the small ones. New owners run into things, and I would rather you call me than guess. The take-back promise in question six never expires either.
12. What will the puppy go home with?
Your puppy goes home on the food and routine we have already started, so the transition is as gentle as possible. Ask and I will walk you through exactly what is included in the go-home pack.
