Puppy Buyers
What We Look For in a Puppy Buyer

We do not sell puppies to everyone who asks. That is not arrogance. It is the single most important thing we do as breeders. Placing the right dog in the right home protects the dog, the buyer, and the breed.
Here is what we are looking for and what makes us say no.
What Makes a Good Rosebull Buyer
You Have Done Your Research
You know what an American Bulldog is. You understand that this is a large, powerful breed that needs structure, training, and socialization. You are not here because you saw a cool dog on TikTok. You are here because you have thought about this and decided that this breed fits your life.
You Are Honest About Your Experience
First-time dog owner? That is fine. First-time large breed owner? Also fine. What matters is that you tell us the truth so we can match you with the right puppy and give you the right guidance. We would rather work with an honest beginner than an experienced owner who is not upfront about their situation.
You Have a Plan
Where will the dog live? Who will train it? What happens when you go on vacation? What is your plan if the dog needs expensive veterinary care? These are not trick questions. They are practical realities of owning a large breed dog for 10-12 years.
You Are Patient
We do not always have puppies available. We breed a limited number of litters each year, and we match puppies to families based on temperament, not first-come-first-served. If you need a dog right now, today, we are probably not the right fit. If you are willing to wait for the right dog, we are.
What Raises Concerns
"I Want a Guard Dog"
American Bulldogs are naturally protective. You do not need to train that into them. When someone tells us they want a dog specifically for protection or guarding, it usually means they want an aggressive dog. That is not what we produce and not what we support.
"How Big Do They Get?"
When size is the first and only question, it tells us the buyer is looking for a status symbol, not a companion. We breed for correct structure, temperament, and health. Size is a byproduct of good breeding, not the goal.
"Can I Breed It Right Away?"
Breeding rights are available on select puppies for qualified buyers. But if someone's first question is about breeding, before they have even asked about health testing or the dog's temperament, that is a red flag. We are not interested in supplying dogs to people who want to produce puppies without doing the work.
No Questions at All
A buyer who asks zero questions worries us more than one who asks too many. Good buyers want to know about health testing, socialization, diet, training, and what to expect. If someone just wants to pay and pick up, they have not thought this through.
Our Screening Process
Every buyer fills out our waiting list application. We review it. Then we talk. Sometimes it is a quick call. Sometimes it is a longer conversation. We are not interrogating you. We are getting to know you so we can make the best match.
We have turned down buyers with beautiful homes and big bank accounts because the fit was not right. We have approved buyers in small apartments because they had the right mindset, the right experience, and the right plan.
It is never about money. It is always about the dog.
What Happens After You Are Approved
Once you are on our waiting list, you wait. When a litter is born, we evaluate each puppy over 7 weeks and match them to families on our list. We send photos and updates during that time. At 8 weeks, your puppy comes home.
After that, we do not disappear. We are available for questions, concerns, and support for the life of your dog. That is what "lifetime breeder support" means at Rosebull. It is not a marketing phrase. It is a commitment.
